Description
Exterior Bahama shutters are a signature feature in tropical regions and along the southern coast of the United States. Hinged at the top of the window, they lift and angle outward with the help of support arms mounted at the base of the opening. PVC Bahama shutters can also be closed to moderately help protect windows during tropical storms.
Bahama shutters are a wider variation of standard PVC louver shutters. Vertical supports, called sub-stiles, allow them to span the full width of a window. Their open-louver design promotes ventilation while shielding interiors from direct sunlight, making them both functional and energy-efficient in sunny climates.

ShutterLand exterior PVC Bahama shutters are engineered to enhance homes in coastal and southern climates, where intense sun and high humidity are common. PVC’s natural resistance to UV damage and moisture makes it an ideal material for these demanding environments. For maximum strength, stiles and rails are both glued and screwed together, creating a rigid, long-lasting frame. Even if moisture contacts the surface, it is completely repelled, ensuring the shutters will not warp, rot, or absorb water.
The louvers are precision-crafted from PVC, measuring 0.3125″ thick and 1.625″ wide. Each slat is suspended between the vertical stiles, set at a 25° angle. Louvers are placed on 1.3125″ centers, giving them a slight horizontal overlap that blocks direct visibility when viewed head-on in the closed position. When the shutters are propped open, the 0.25″ gap between louvers allows for clear outward visibility.
To ensure a tight, finished fit, the top, bottom, and divider rails are rabbeted so the louvers nest seamlessly without gaps. For wider shutters, sub-stiles are incorporated to maintain structural integrity, with the number of sub-stiles determined by the overall width selected.
Pros
+ Can be installed with functional hinges + Solid components + Impeccable strength + Remarkable durability + Abrasion resistant + Weatherproof + Impervious to moisture + Full range of sizes available + Unlimited paint colors + Historically accurate + Long life expectancy + Straight / Smooth components + Low-maintenance + Quick 5-7 weeks production time + Free shipping
Cons
– Heavier than wood – Priced slightly more than premium wood – Cannot be stained
Measuring for Bahama shutters is straightforward. Written and video instructions provide the needed steps to make the process easy.
Bermuda Shutters – Sub-stiles
Bahama shutters can be made with a hallmark vertical separation that creates multiple horizontal banks of louvers. A vertical sub-stile creates multiple horizontal louver areas, allowing a shutter to be made wider than a standard louvered shutter. It looks similar to the stiles on the left and right side of the shutter. As the width of PVC Bahama shutters increases, multiple sub-styles may be necessary.
No Sub-Stile Shutter Width: 16 – 27″
One Sub-Stile Shutter Width: 24 – 50″
Two Sub-Stiles Shutter Width: 36 – 60″
Three Sub-Stiles Shutter Width: 48 – 60″
Four Sub-Stiles Shutter Width: 60″
Horizontal Divider Rail
A divider rail separates the shutter into upper and lower louver sections. Including a divider rail is optional for Bahama shutters less than 90 inches in height. Choose either no divider rail, a single centered divider rail, a single divider rail at a custom location, or two divider rails at custom locations. When a custom location is selected, provide the measurement from the bottom of the shutter to the center of the divider. Many Bermuda shutters are ordered without a divider rail to preserve clear sight lines, but ShutterLand can manufacture them to any of the available configurations.
Bahama Hinges
Bahama-style hinges can be added when entering the order specifications. The silver aluminum hinges span the width of the shutter and suspend it in front of the window. Support arms push the bottom of the Bahama shutter away from the window. Those offered by ShutterLand are adjustable to position the shutter at the optimum angle. More information on hardware can be found on the Bahama shutter installation page.
Standard Hinge PVC shutters are 1.25”, leaving 0.25” clearance behind the shutter.
Deep Top Hinge Gives 1.125” margin for wood shutters.
Flat Top Hinge Deep windows that can accommodate the shutter to nest inside the opening. The hinge screws to the header.
PVC Bahama Shutter Colors
Premium PVC exterior window shutters can be ordered unfinished or fully painted. Unfinished shutters will require painting on-site, but do not require priming. Factory painted shutters arrive ready to install immediately after receipt.
Select from nine standard paint colors applied in the manufacturing process prior to shipping. These are the most popular exterior shutter paint color offerings from Benjamin Moore. Black shutters are the most frequently ordered, with Black Forest Green close behind. We also stock gray, brown, blue, red, and green. If one of the basic hues does not meet your requirements, you can provide the manufacturer name, color name, and color code for a custom match. There is a one-time fee per order of $200 for this service. Standard white or light-base colors require an additional $35 per shutter. The increased amount is needed because light-based colors are more difficult to apply than darker colors, and will be presented for approval before an order is processed.
Options for PVC Bermuda Shutters
Modify your shutters with options available at the point of order entry.
A horizontal divider rail separates the louvers into two sections. A divider rail is optional on PVC louver Bahama shutters shorter than 90 inches. The divider rail can be located in the center of the shutter or at a custom location by providing a measurement from the bottom of the shutter to the center of the desired division. A second divider can be added to create three louver areas.
When Florida-style PVC shutters are installed, the fixed louvers slant down and away from the building when closed to direct water away from the window.
Louvered PVC shutters currently require about 5-7 weeks to manufacture. After the exterior shutters are complete, they will be shipped straight to the provided shipping address.
If you determine that PVC shutters are not exactly what you need, we do offer premium wood Bahama shutters and aluminum Bahama hurricane shutters. Standard PVC louver shutters hinge permanently with fixed brackets to the side of the window, and could be a solution if Bahama shutters don’t work.
The ShutterLand staff is prepared to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to contact us for assistance.

Measure PVC Shutters
PVC exterior shutters install to the side of the window using one of two methods.
Stationary shutters permanently attach to the side of the window in a fixed location with the included polycarbonate mounting brackets.
Functional shutters mount with operable exterior hardware to pivot from a position flanking the window to cover the window opening.
How the window is measured depends on which of these two options is selected.

ShutterLand’s manufacturing process has been streamlined to keep costs and manufacturing time at a minimum. Therefore, we do not deviate from these two louver sizes.
Faux Tilt Bar
A tilt bar is a narrow vertical wood rod that interconnects a group of horizontal louvers. A tilt bar used in conjunction with movable louvers unifies the slats and allows them to rotate at one time. Louvers on ShutterLand premium wood louvers are fixed in position and do not rotate. A faux tilt bar can be attached to replicate the appearance of movable louvers, usually for historical purposes. Selection of a tilt bar adds $40 to the price of each shutter.
Most exterior shutter applications do not require a tilt bar.
Faux Tilt Bar - Shutter With a Divider Rail
If a divider rail is employed, the tilt bar can be added to all louver sections or only added to one section.
After incorporating a tilt bar, it is necessary to establish if the tilt bar will be applied to all louvers and if the louvers will be in an up or down position.
Faux Tilt Bar - Louvers Down
The tilt bar can be attached on the side of the shutter with the louvers in a down position.
Faux Tilt Bar - Louvers Up
The tilt bar can be attached on the side of the shutter with the louvers in an up position.
Red Grandis
Red Grandis is a nearly perfect high quality hardwood to manufacture exceptional exterior shutters. It has straight tight grain and minimal knotting, resulting in a consistently smooth texture. The fibers are relatively uniform in color with variations from light pink to dark red, and accept paint or stain well. Red Grandis is dimensionally stable and extremely strong.
Cedar
Cedar is the most common and recognizable tree species for the construction of outdoor shutters. This aromatic timber is resistant to both insects and decay. Cedar has condensed grain with few knots, resulting in straight handsome shutters with tones of red, brown, and tan. Cedar paints and stain well.
Mahogany
Mahogany has a compact grain with a rich, warm, reddish-brown hue. Mahogany shutters are strong, sturdy, and moisture resistant. Mahogany is relatively easy to finish and is heavier than other woods offered.

ShutterLand’s manufacturing process has been streamlined to keep costs and manufacturing time at a minimum. Therefore, we do not deviate from this louver size.
Southern Yellow Pine
Southern Yellow Pine is the most affordable solid wood option. This wood has a beautiful golden color with a distinct wood grain pattern that is 99.9% knot free. It is kiln-dried to minimum moisture content and cut to 1″ thick shutters. The joints between stiles and rails are glued, doweled, and screwed for ultimate strength.
Southern Yellow Pine shutters are considered entry-level, or builder grade, with lower performance standards compared to 1.5″ thick premium wood shutters.
Composite exterior shutters install in a stationary position to the side of the window with the included Lexan polycarbonate fixed mounting brackets.
The v-shaped 1-1/8″ x 1-1/8″ brackets are specifically suited for use with outdoor composite shutters. The vertical side of the bracket attaches to the building and the horizontal side to the top or bottom of the shutter. The brackets extend the full width of the shutter and are not easily visible after installation.

Faux Tilt Bar
A tilt bar is a narrow vertical wood rod that interconnects a group of horizontal louvers. Historically, a tilt bar unifies a group of movable louvers to allow them to rotate at one time. ShutterLand composite louvers are fixed in a downward-pointing position and do NOT rotate. A faux tilt bar can be attached to replicate the appearance of movable louvers, usually for historical purposes. Selection of a tilt bar adds $40 to the price of each shutter.
Most exterior shutter applications do not require a tilt bar.
Composite Shutters
ShutterLand composite shutters are constructed from Extira. The material is manufactured from sustainable wood fibers and marine-grade resins to form large 1.25″ thick solid straight sheets. Individual components are then milled and fabricated into custom shutters. Extira is designed for outdoor applications where humidity and moisture varies. It is strong and resilient with a long projected life.
Unfinished shutters are raw with no finish applied. Small blemishes may be repaired with wood filler, which will arrive sanded smooth and ready to finish. Filled areas will not diminish the integrity of the shutter or show through the paint. The PVC stiles and rails do not require priming for paint adhesion. The central solid panels are constructed from composite and do need to be primed before painting.

Unfinished shutters are raw with no finish applied. All surfaces are thoroughly sanded. Small blemishes are repaired with wood filler, which will arrive sanded smooth and ready to finish. Filled areas will not diminish the integrity of the shutter or show through the paint. Priming is recommended to seal the grain and support paint adhesion.
Unfinished - Stain Grade
Unfinished shutters are raw with no finish applied. All surfaces are thoroughly sanded. Wood is selected for a relatively uniform grain. Minor blemishes (if any) are repaired with stainable wood filler, which will arrive sanded smooth and ready to finish. Filled areas will not diminish the integrity or appearance of the shutter.
Primed
Primed shutters are sprayed with PPG SEAL GRIP acrylic universal primer / sealer. This primer provides complete coverage to seal the porous raw surface, block stains and prevent bleed-through. The medium gray primed surface will need to be sanded with 220 grit sandpaper and wiped clear of dust before painting.
Standard Paint Colors
Select from 9 standard paint colors. Painted exterior shutters are sanded, primed, sanded, and sprayed with two ultra-durable, water-borne commercial-grade PPG BREAK-THROUGH! acrylic top coats. The factory applied paint covers all surfaces in a smooth satin sheen finish.
Choose a custom paint color for a one-time amount of $200 to match the color (NOT per shutter). Provide the paint manufacturer, color name, and color code to match. Or a color chip or physical sample may be mailed to match.

Arch Top 1:1 Drop
The arch of a 1:1 drop is equal to the width. So the measurement from the top of the shutter down to the start of the arch is the same as the shutter width.
A pair of arch top shutters includes one shutter with the arch on the left side and one with the arch on the right.
*Double wide shutter cannot be made with an arch top.
Arch Top Custom Drop
A custom arch requires a springline measurement.
Springline – the dimension from the top of the shutter down to the start of the arch.
A pair of arch top shutters includes one shutter with the arch on the left side and one with the arch on the right.
*Double wide shutter cannot be made with an arch top.
Shutter Screws
Shutter screws are best used to install vinyl shutters to wood siding. The screw heads are painted to match the shutter color.
Shutters are not pre-drilled.
Shutter Spikes
Vinyl shutter spikes are designed to secure shutters to most surfaces. Screws are usually better for installing to wood. Scales, or ridges, of the shutter spike hold the apparatus in position. They are color coordinated to match the shutters.
At least one divider rail is required when the shutter height is equal to or greater than 55″. This option becomes unavailable when the height selected exceeds 54.75″.

Raised panels have beveled edges with a flat plateau in the center. The solid flat panel section is composite.
Flat Panel
Flat panel shutters are constructed with a central even surface with no detail. The solid flat panel section is composite.
Grooved Shaker Panel
Shaker panel shutters are fabricated with vertical grooves cut into the central surface. The solid grooved panel section is composite. The number of grooves is based on the shutter width.
Vertical grooves:
2 grooves for shutter widths 14” to 17 ¾”
3 grooves for shutter widths 18” to 23 ¾”
4 grooves for shutter widths 24” to 31 ¾”
5 grooves for shutter widths 32” to 39 ¾”
6 grooves for shutter widths 40” to 45”
A divider rail is a horizontal bar (much like the top rail) that creates one louver area above or below the division with a solid panel in the other section.
Divider Rail
A horizontal divider rail is necessary to separate the top section of a combination shutter from the bottom. The solid panel section is composite. Divider rail size is displayed under “Dimensions” on the main order page
Select “Centered” or
Measure from the bottom of the shutter to the desired center of the divider rail for a “Custom” location and record that dimension as the “Division Point”
* The actual location of the divider rail may be slightly higher or lower than requested. The number of louvers will dictate the final placement.
Straight Top Shutters
Straight top shutters are manufactured with a square horizontal top.
Arch Top Shutters
Arch top shutters are made with a curved top.
The specified shutter height is the dimension of the long vertical edge of the shutter.
The required springline is the measurement from the top of the shutter down to the start of the arch.
Wood exterior shutters install to the side of the window using one of two methods.
Stationary shutters permanently attach to the side of the window in a fixed location.
Functional shutters mount with operable exterior hardware to pivot from a position flanking the window to cover the window opening.
How the window is measured depends on which of these two options is selected.
Vertical Boards
The number of boards is based on the shutter width.
3 boards for widths 12” to 17 ¾”
4 boards for widths 18” to 23 ¾”
5 boards for widths 24” to 31 ¾”
6 boards for widths 32” to 39 ¾”

Measure Bahama Shutters
Bahama shutters install to the top of a window with functional hinges and extend away from the building at the bottom with shutter stays. The shutter can nest inside of a window opening with sufficient depth or sit just proud of the trim. Most Bahama shutters cover the full height of the window, while others are shorter and serve as a canopy over the top portion.
Individual board widths are adjusted to accommodate the gap and maintain the specified shutter width

Vinyl Shutters
Vinyl shutters in the 19 standard colors are constructed from Polypropylene. The color is molded through the material and shutters arrive ready to install. Polypropylene cannot be painted. The paintable finish shutters are fabricated from Polystyrene and are translucent opal in color.
All vinyl shutters have a wood grain textured surface. Vinyl shutters are constructed in the form of a shell, with four sides, a front and a hollow back. The panels can feel flimsy right out of the box and may not have the rigidity one expects from wood or composite shutters. They gain great strength and stability when they are attached to the building.

Vinyl Shutters
Vinyl shutters in the 19 standard colors are constructed from Polypropylene. The color is molded through the material and arrive ready to install. Polypropylene cannot be painted. The paintable finish shutters are fabricated from Polystyrene and are a translucent opal in color.
All vinyl shutters have a wood grain textured surface. Both boards and battens are are constructed in the form of a shell, with four sides, a front and a hollow back (shown at left). Both the boards and battens have a cap at either end of the component. The panels can feel flimsy right out of the box and may not have the rigidity one expects from wood or composite shutters. They gain great strength and stability when they are attached to the building.

This option is recommended.
Louvers Up
Louvers can be oriented in an up position.

Louvers Down
Louvers can positioned in a down position.
This position is recommended because the louvers shed moisture.
Louvers Up
Louvers can positioned in a up position. This is not a standard option and can ordered only by special request.
Up oriented louvers are not recommend because there is no space between the louvers resulting in a potential for water to reside in the grooves which may shorten the lifespan of the shutters.

Paneled area is composite (see below).
Paneled area is composite (see below).
Mahogany
Mahogany has a compact grain with a rich, warm, reddish-brown hue. Mahogany shutters are strong, sturdy, and moisture resistant. Mahogany is relatively easy to finish and is heavier than other woods offered. Paneled area is composite (see below).
Composite Solid Panel
The central solid panel is fabricated from Extira, a composite material manufactured from sustainable wood fibers and marine-grade resins. Extira is designed for outdoor applications where humidity and moisture varies. It is strong, resilient and holds its shape in all weather conditions.
Paneled area is composite (see below).
Southern Yellow Pine shutters are considered entry-level, or builder grade, with lower performance standards compared to 1.5″ thick premium wood shutters.

Straight Top
Straight top shutters have a standard horizontal top.
Arch Top 1:1 Drop
The arch of a 1:1 drop is equal to the width. So the measurement from the top of the shutter down to the start of the arch is the same as the shutter width.
A pair of arch top shutters includes one shutter with the arch on the left side and one with the arch on the right.
Arch Top Custom Drop
A custom arch requires a springline measurement.
Springline – the dimension from the top of the shutter down to the start of the arch.
A pair of arch top shutters includes one shutter with the arch on the left side and one with the arch on the right.
Flat Panel
Flat panel shutters are constructed with a central even surface with no detail.
Grooved Shaker Panel
Shaker panel shutters are fabricated with vertical grooves cut into the central surface. The number of grooves is based on the shutter width.
Vertical grooves:
2 grooves for shutter widths 12” to 17 ¾”
3 grooves for shutter widths 18” to 23 ¾”
4 grooves for shutter widths 24” to 31 ¾”
5 grooves for shutter widths 32” to 39 ¾”
6 grooves for shutter widths 40” to 45”

Measure PVC Board & Batten Shutters
PVC exterior shutters install to the side of the window using one of two methods.
Stationary shutters permanently attach to the side of the window in a fixed location.
Functional shutters mount with operable exterior hardware to pivot from a position flanking the window to cover the window opening.
How the window is measured depends on which of these two options is selected.

Fixed Installation Brackets
V-shaped clear Lexan polycarbonate mounting brackets are used to install shutters in a fixed position. One edge of the bracket screws into the building with included stainless steel screws. The perpendicular edge overlaps the top or bottom edge of the shutter and secures in place with shorter screws.
The use of installation brackets avoids the need to drill or screw through the face of the shutter. They are clear, so they will not hinder the appearance of the shutter. Installation brackets are $12 per shutter.
Installation hinges will need to be obtained from an outside shutter hardware source. Select the “No Hardware” option.
The video on the installation page will help to visualize the exact process.

Bahama Shutter Type
Hurricane Protection Shutters
Hurricane shutters are built with reinforced louvers to withstand high winds and flying debris. They have been impact-tested to comply to the country’s most stringent building codes.
Decorative-Only Shutters
Bahama-style decorative-only shutters are perfect for everyday use, but do not have reinforced louvers to protect windows from hurricane-force winds and flying objects.
Hurricane impact-rated shutters feature hollow louvers with 0.06-inch thick walls, reinforced internally by three intersecting support walls for added strength. The louvers are 1.5″ wide and 0.3125″ thick at a 25-degree angle. They are positioned on 1.375″ centers, so they slightly overlap with space for air to pass.
1.5" Decorative Louvers
Decorative shutters can be constructed with 1.5-inch hollow louvers with 0.05-inch thick walls. The louvers are 0.3125″ thick and spaced on 1.5″ centers. They are positioned at a 25-degree angle with space between for air to pass.
2" Decorative Louvers
Decorative shutters can be constructed with 2-inch hollow louvers with 0.05-inch thick walls. The louvers are 0.375″ thick and spaced on 1.875″ centers. They are positioned at a 20-degree angle with space between for air to pass.
Measure for Aluminum Bahama Shutters
The shutter size must be ordered in accordance with ShutterLand’s measuring instructions.
Width & Height
Width: Provide the full shutter width. It is recommended that the shutter overlap the window opening on either side by at least 1 inch.
Height: Provide the combined dimension of the shutter and the top hinge. It is recommended that the shutter overlap the window opening by at least 1 inch on top and bottom.
Please view the “Measuring for Aluminum Bahama Shutters” video before ordering.
Measure for Bahama Shutters
Height: Provide the combined dimension of the shutter and the top hinge. The top hinge is 1.5″ tall. It is recommended that the shutter overlap the window opening by at least 1 inch on top and bottom.
Please view the “Measuring for Aluminum Bahama Shutters” video before ordering.
A divider rail is an optional horizontal bar (much like the top rail) that creates louver areas above and below the division. The divider rail height is 2″.
No Divider Rail
Bahama shutters constructed without a divider rail provide clean lines and a less obstructed view through the louvers.
One Divider Rail
A divider may be specified in the center or at a custom location. Measure from the bottom of the shutter to the desired center of the divider rail.
The actual location of the divider rail may be slightly higher or lower than requested. The number of louvers will dictate the final placement.
A divider may increase the selected height as noted in the divider rail designation area.
The top hinge of Bahama shutters is made to the same width of the shuter, is finished in the same color and arrives pre-attached.
Standard Bahama Hinge
The standard hinge is 1.5″ in height. The back of the hinge extends 0.1875″ behind the rear side of the shutter.
Build-Out Bahama Hinge
The build-out hinge has all of the same specifications as the standard hinge, except that the back of the hinge extends an additional 1″ behind the rear side of the shutter.
Aluminum shutters can lock in the down position using one of several methods.
Camel Brackets
Camel brackets are included with every aluminum Bahama shutter. They are 1.125″ wide, 2.375″ tall and mount to the building next to the bottom corners of the shutter.
The camel bracket is the lower base of the support arm. A locking pin passes through the camel bracket and into the side of the shutter.
Camel Brackets & Z-Clamps
Z-clamps are used in addition to camel brackets to secure the shutter in a closed position to protect the window from external forces. The clamps can remain in storage for normal operation to be quickly installed in preparation of an impending storm.
Pin Latch
Pin latches are sliding bolts embedded into the bottom rail on either side of the shutter. A tension screw is used to move the bolt and lock it into place. Camel brackets are placed on the building to receive the extended bolt.
Outside Access: The pin latch tension knob is accessible from the outside of the building.
Inside Access: The pin latch tension knob is accessible from the inside of the building. The shutter height ordered needs to be short enough to ensure the knob can be reached through the open window to lock the shutter closed.
Aluminum shutters are powder coated at a 40% gloss for a long durable life.
Standard Colors
Aluminum shutters are available in 20 standard colors. If color is critical, do not make a selection from a digital display. Request color samples for physical onsite examination. Select up to 5 color samples at a cost of $12 or a ring of all standard colors for $32. Shutterland will promptly mail the samples to you for on-site evaluation.

Hurricane & Decorative Functional Shutter Size
Width: Provide the full shutter unit width. The shutter unit may contain one, two, three, or four panels across (designated in the “Configuration” entry). It is recommended that the shutter overlap the window opening on either side by at least 1 inch. Widths are available in 0.50″ increments for decorative units and 0.25″ for hurricane shutters.
Height: Provide the full shutter unit height. It is recommended that the shutter overlap the window opening by at least 1 inch on top and bottom. Heights are available in intervals that match the louver spacing.

Fixed Decorative Shutter Size
Provide the width and height of desired individual shutters. Widths are available in 0.50″ increments and heights in intervals that match the louver spacing.
Decorative shutters are not designed or constructed for storm protection and therefore do not include a method to secure them in a closed position.
Storm Bars
Hurricane impact-rated shutters are automatically equipped with storm bars that secure the unit in preparation for an impending storm.
Storm bars are optional for decorative shutters.
Storm bars are easily removed and stored for common daily operation.
Pin Latch Locks
Pin latches are vertical sliding bolts embedded into the side rails opposite the hinge side. A tension screw is used to move the bolt and lock it into place. A bracket can be attached to the building to receive the latch.
Outside Access: The pin latch tension knob is accessible from the outside of the building.
Inside Access: The pin latch tension knob is accessible from the inside of the building. The shutter height ordered needs to be short enough to ensure the knob can be reached through the open window to lock the shutter closed.
Colonial hinges are pre-attached to the hanging side of the shutter.
Standard Hanging Hinge
Standard depth hinges are available only when a single shutter opens to the side (1 shutter (left), 1 shutters (right), or 2 shutters (1 left, 1 right)). It is not offered with any other configurations.
Build-Out Hanging Hinge
Build-out hinges provide 1″ additional depth to the shutter unit. They are optional when single shutters open to the side of the window. Build-out hinges are required when two shutters hinge together to open to one side (2 shutters (both to one side), 3 shutters, or 4 shutters).
Bahama Hinge
Bahama Hinge
Bahama hinges consist of two pieces. The header component is mounted at the top of the window. The lower piece screws to the top face of the shutter and slides into the header, suspending the shutter in front of the window.
The aluminum hinge is cut to the same width as the shutter. It arrives unfinished and can remain natural (silver) or can be painted.
Standard Hinge
A standard depth hinge is 2.375″ deep and secures just above the window.
Deep Hinge
A build-out hinge is 3.25″ deep and secures just above the window.
Flat Hinge
The flat hinge screws into the window header so the shutter can nest inside of the window opening.

Bahama Shutter Support Arms
Support arms, also known as shutter stays, hold the base of a Bahama shutter away from the window. The larger end of the telescoping pole is secured to a U-shaped bracket attached to the shutter, while a camel bracket fastened to the building holds the smaller pole with an L-shaped pin. A tension o-ring allows for easy angle adjustments. It tightens to lock the shutter in position.
Arm Lengths
12″ Arms:
The 12″ arms extend to a maximum length of 20″ (including the brackets).
18″ Arms:
The 18″ arms extend to a maximum length of 32″ (including the brackets).
24″ Arms:
The 24″ arms extend to a maximum length of 44″ (including the brackets).

Epoxy Prime Coat
An optional epoxy prime coat is applied before the powder coat to enhance adhesion and extend the life of the finish. This intermediate layer strengthens the bond between the aluminum and the powder coating, providing a durable foundation for the topcoat. It is especially recommended for coastal installations, where salt and moisture can accelerate wear and corrosion.
Aluminum Shutter Arm Color
Choose whether the shutter support arm will remain standard silver or be powder coated to match the shutter finish.
