ShutterLand Exterior Shutter Warranty & Policies
ShutterLand builds exterior shutters designed for years of dependable service. We use high-quality materials and proven construction techniques to help ensure reliability. This warranty provides assurance that all shutters will perform to the level of expectation. Customer satisfaction is paramount.
Return Policy
Because all ShutterLand shutters are custom-manufactured to customer-provided specifications, orders are not changeable or cancelable after processing.
Shipping & Delivery Policy
- Shutters are shipped directly to the designated shipping address upon completion.
- Shipments are not announced prior to departure.
- If a carrier is unable to make delivery, redelivery and/or storage fees may apply.
- UPS & FedEx Shipments: Delivered without a required signature.
- Freight Deliveries: Carrier may attempt to schedule a delivery appointment. If the customer is unresponsive, delivery will proceed without an appointment after two failed attempts.
Receipt, Storage, and Damage Reporting
1. Shipping, Delivery & Initial Inspection
- ShutterLand emails tracking numbers and delivery instructions after a shipment has left the facility.
- Document delivery by photographing all boxes, pallets, crates, and labels, regardless of whether damage is visible.
- Note any visible freight damage directly on the driver’s freight bill.
- Immediately open all cartons and inspect all contents, checking quantities and configurations of all shutters. The customer is responsible for identifying any shortages or damage.
2. Discovery & Reporting of Damage
- ShutterLand must be notified within 7 days of receipt of defective merchandise and before shutters are altered or installation is attempted.
- Follow the steps below under “Warranty Claim Process.”
3. Unpacking & Storage
- If shutters will not be installed immediately:
- Unpack and store shutters in an upright staggered configuration.
- Avoid prolonged surface-to-surface contact between painted or primed shutters, which may cause finish damage.
- Protect shutters from direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme heat during storage.
Wood, Composite & PVC Shutters Warranty
- Full One-Year Warranty: Free from defects rendering shutters unusable/unfit for ordinary use when properly finished, maintained, and installed.
- Lifetime Limited Warranty: Free from material manufacturing defects for the life of the shutter. Excludes rot, deterioration, and paint finish beyond one year.
- Tolerances & Allowances:
- Warp of ≤ 1/16″ per foot is not considered a defect.
- Minor imperfections, including small blemishes or minor back-side composite damage, are not considered defects.
Vinyl Shutters Warranty (Polypropylene & Polystyrene)
- Coverage: Lifetime warranty against breaking, cracking, splitting, or warping, provided shutters are installed per the manufacturer’s instructions.
Aluminum Shutters Warranty
- Product Warranty: 5 years on materials and workmanship.
- Finish Warranty:
- 3 years for standard TGIC powder coat finishes.
- 5 years if the epoxy prime coat is applied.
- No coverage for peeling/lifting due to post-install drilling, cutting, bending, or galvanic corrosion.
- Exclusions:
Cleaning & Maintenance (Required for Warranty)
- Clean quarterly with a mild solution; contact time less than 1 hour, then rinse with cold water.
- Use a soft, non-scratch cotton cloth if scrubbing.
- Maintain surface temperature below 80°F (27°C) during cleaning.
- Remove grease/oil with isopropyl alcohol only.
Warranty Exclusions
This warranty does not cover:
- Damage from accidents, misuse, alterations, abuse, misapplication, improper maintenance, exposure to elements, fire, flood, or acts of God.
- Faulty installation, incorrect measurements/specifications, or unauthorized repairs.
- Normal wear and tear, including paint chips, scrapes, touch-ups, or minor blemishes.
- Minor back-side surface imperfections of non-functional shutters are not visible once installed.
- Warping of components less than 1/16″ per foot.
- Labor costs for removal, reinstallation, refinishing, adjustment, or trip charges.
- Damage incurred during transit back to the ShutterLand facility for warranty inspection.
- Claims exceeding the original purchase price.
Warranty Claim Process
To initiate a warranty claim:
- Contact ShutterLand directly by responding to the shipping announcement email.
- Provide the following required documentation:
- Order number (beginning with “SX”)
- Quantity of damaged shutters
- Width and height of each damaged shutter
- Description of the damage to each shutter
- Photos of the delivery box and shipping label
- Wide and close-up photos of each damaged area, labeled to identify each shutter
- ShutterLand may request additional information or require shutters to be returned to the original manufacturing facility for inspection.
- Retain all packaging materials for possible inspection by the freight carrier or return to the factory.
- Non-defective or altered products will be returned freight collect without credit or repair.
ShutterLand reserves the right to inspect, repair, or replace products that are reported damaged.
Warranty Resolution & Transportation
- ShutterLand has complete authority to determine if the product needs to be repaired or replaced for a valid warranty claim.
- Shutters to be repaired must be returned to the original facility; remakes will be made as quickly and efficiently as possible and returned to the original shipping address.
- Repairs or remakes will be limited to the original material, style, configuration, size, and specifications.
- Warranty covers one-way return transportation from the factory to the original shipping address. Packing and freight costs to the ShutterLand facility are the customer’s responsibility.
- If a claim is found invalid, all costs for repair, replacement, or freight will be the customer’s responsibility.
- Warranty applies only to the original purchaser and terminates if ownership is transferred.
