What size panels do I need to order?
Review our measuring instructions for assistance.
Are installation instructions available?
We do provide general information about installation.
Are all your interior shutters sold as individual panels?
Yes. All of our shutters are sold as assembled individual
panels (single shutters). If you are looking for complete
custom shutter units built to fit your window opening see
Horizon Interior
Shutters.
Are all your interior shutters sold unfinished?
Yes. Shutters are only sold unfinished. Our shutters are solid wood without finger joints and may be painted or stained.
If you need shutters that
are painted or stained in production, see Horizon Interior Shutters
Can ShutterLand shutters be painted?
Yes. We recommend you prime, sand, then paint the shutters.
Can ShutterLand shutters be stained?
Yes. Basswood stains very well. However, component are NOT selected for uniform grain. When staining, unless you specifically adjust the stain color and depth for individual louvers, styles, and rails, you will see color variations in the finish. To some, these variations are very natural and acceptable. To others, the lack of uniformity is objectionable.
What is a panel, hinge, stile, rail, tilt bar, louver,
or divider rail?
Go to our definition page
for clarification.
How and where are your shutters made?
Our interior shutters are hand-crafted from northern basswood
milled in Southern California. Joints are glued and doweled
on 1" centers for strength and durability. The shutters
are sanded and ready to finish upon receipt. All of our
products are made in the United States of America.
Do you have literature you can send me?
Our web site serves as the primary source of information
about our products. It is completely up to date with shutter
styles, specifications, production times, and prices. You
may print our traditional
or plantation
style PDF specifications pages, which should help you in
determining the correct shutter style and size.
Why do you use Basswood to build your shutters?
Basswood is a light weight hardwood known for its resistance
to warping, twisting, and bowing. It is virtually resin
free and will not sag under its own weight.
Do you sell fixed louver
shutters?
While we only sell movable louver interior shutters, we do sell fixed louver exterior shutters at ShutterLand Exterior Shutters which may work for your application.
Do you sell raised panel, or fabric insert
shutters?
No. We do not sell these types of shutters.
How much can shutters be trimmed?
The top and bottom rails for both the traditional style
and plantation style shutters may be trimmed down 1 inch.
The side stiles may also be trimmed, but the amount depends
on the shutter style. Click "More Information"
under the shutter panel on the order pages for Traditional
or Plantation styles.
