Illustrated below are four (4) shutter installation methods.
You may modify any of these by using either # 3 or # 4 hang
strips for traditional style panels, or # 4 or # 5 hang strips
for plantation style panels. The hang strips may be attached
in any direction, and may be trimmed as desired.

The
shutters are attached to a hang strip and the hang strip
is attached to the window jamb with screws. You can
use either # 3, # 4, or # 5 hang strips, turned in any
direction, depending on your window opening and shutter
style. Hang strips may be trimmed as needed.

A
hang strip on each side of the shutters attaches to
the wall. The inside edge of the strip should be slightly
beyond the window opening. This installation method
is typically used when an inside installation is not
possible or the opening is not square. It provides more
space behind the shutter for louvers to rotate open.

A
hang strip on each side of the shutters attaches to
a flat portion of the trim. The strip does not have
to be located exactly as shown above, but may be located
anywhere on the trim so long as there is enough flat
surface. It is important to make certain the louvers
can be rotated fully open.

How To Determine Individual Shutter
Panel Sizes to Order
Width:
- Measure the width of the area you want the shutters to
cover (NOT including any trim strips).
- Divide this width by the number of panels you want across
the window. This will give you the approximate width of
each panel. Round this measurement up to the nearest 1/4
inch.
Example:
| |
Width = 36-7/16" |
| |
Divide by 4 (for 4 panels across) and round up to
nearest 1/4" |
| |
Order four (4) shutter panels 9-1/4" wide |
Height:
- Measure the height of the area you want the shutters to
cover.
- You may need to order the next larger panel size and trim
the panel to fit. Up to 1" may be trimmed off the top
and the bottom of each individual panel (a total of 2"
per panel).
- For a two tier unit (panels across the top and bottom),
combine individual panel heights as required.
